I thought I would kick this crazy journey off with Cryptid that got me shit canned at the NPS (National Parks Service). It was this very description that I submitted for the 1996 traveler’s brochure for the Trinity Alps that got me in trouble in the first place… so now its all come first circle and my discoveries can finally be seen by the world at large.
You can’t spell California without the I and the A just like you can’t spell Trinity Alps giant Salamander without an I or an A. This giant lizard has been sighted in the Trinity Alps region of California since the 19th Century and sightings have continued until the 20th century with a few reported sightings each year. The creature is described to look like a salamander that is giant. Their diet consists of giant earthworms, regular sized salamanders eat regular sized earthworms, the only conclusion we can make from this fact is that giant salamanders eat giant worms. It is said to reach the size of an alligator and has been known to steal sleeping bags, most likely for some kind of salamander bedding, from unsuspecting campers who left their tents open. Besides its occasional run in with campers the salamander is peaceful, and keeps to itself. World renowned Monster hunter Tom Slick led an expedition to track down the beast, but to no avail. The expedition did however interview an elderly local who was quoted as saying “I saw many a giant salamander in my day as a young trapper on these shores, they were the size of alligators and I trained some of them… those were good days.” The assholes at the National Parks Service still deny the salamanders existence.
No photo evidence of the creature exists, but they reach the size of an alligator so just imagine this picture below is not a giant Alligator but a giant Salamander.
